The Lovász number of a finite simple <graph> is the <semidefinite program> value
$$
\vartheta(G)=\max\{\operatorname{tr}(JB):B\succeq0,\ \operatorname{tr}B=1,\ B_{ij}=0\text{ for }ij\in E(G)\},
$$
where $J$ is the <all-ones matrix>. Its value on the <complement graph> gives a lower bound for the <chromatic number>.
