\b[Marta Csatári] is an optical researcher identified by the byline of a2003 multipass <optical amplifier> study with <Ian N. Ross> and <Steve Hutchins>. The experiment combined substantial saturated <optical gain> with measurements of output stability.<High-performance diode-pumped Nd:YLF amplifier by Ian N. Ross and others>[Author information and Abstract]{ref}

One reported quantity is the average output intensity during a pulse train,7kilowatts per square centimeter. That wording matters: an average during a train is not automatically an average over the whole operating cycle.<High-performance diode-pumped Nd:YLF amplifier by Ian N. Ross and others>[Abstract, average intensity during the pulse train]{ref}

For an original conversion example, suppose that intensity is uniform across an illuminated area of1square millimeter. Since $1\,\mathrm{mm^2}=0.01\,\mathrm{cm^2}$,
$$
\overline P_{\mathrm{train}}
=(7000\,\mathrm{W/cm^2})(0.01\,\mathrm{cm^2})=70\,\mathrm W.
$$
If the train occupies one tenth of a repeated cycle and the output is negligible between trains, the whole-cycle average becomes7watts. The area and duty fraction are stipulated here, not taken from the experiment.

The example distinguishes three descriptions: intensity per unit area, total power and the time interval over which either is averaged. Comparing amplifier results requires those definitions alongside the gain and stability figures. A large numerical intensity alone does not specify the total delivered energy or the long-term average output.
