<Máximo Bañados> co-developed the <BTZ black hole> with <Claudio Teitelboim> and <Jorge Zanelli> in 1992. This supplied a simpler setting for investigating global gravitational and thermodynamic questions without assuming that all black-hole phenomena require four-dimensional spacetime.
