Metal ion catalysis
= Metal ion catalysis
<Metal ion catalysis> uses a coordinated <metal> ion to activate a reagent, orient reactants or stabilize charge. Zinc can lower the acidity constant of coordinated <water> and support attack by the resulting <oxygen> <nucleophile> without a <metal> <redox> step.
