<Methyl abstraction> transfers a <metal>-bound methyl group to an <electrophile>. A trityl cation can convert a neutral metallocene dimethyl into a cationic monomethyl, forming $\mathrm{Ph_3CMe}$ and opening a site for an <alkene ligand>.
