A bound negative <muon> can be absorbed by a <nucleus> through the <weak charged current>, changing a <proton> into a <neutron> and emitting a <muon neutrino>. This competes with ordinary <muon decay> and changes the observable disappearance lifetime in a <muonic atom>.
