For isotropic <incompressible flow> of a <Newtonian fluid>, the <stress> <tensor> is the displayed expression, with <pressure> $p$, <dynamic viscosity> $\mu$, <velocity> $\mathbf u$, and <identity matrix> $I$. In <Couette flow>, its off-diagonal component is the <shear stress>.
