Non-photochemical quenching
= Non-photochemical quenching
<Non-photochemical quenching> describes pathways that reduce chlorophyll fluorescence through routes other than photochemical charge separation. Rapid protective components can dissipate excitation as heat, but a fluorescence decrease alone does not uniquely identify the pathway.
