Non-topological soliton
= Non-topological soliton
{wiki}
A <non-topological soliton> is a localized finite-energy field configuration whose existence or stability is not protected by a nontrivial <topological charge>. A conserved ordinary <Noether charge> can instead obstruct its decay. A <Q-ball> is a standard complex-scalar example: its profile is localized while its phase rotates in time.
