Choosing the multiplicative scale of a mathematical or physical quantity by a stated convention. Examples include a probability density integrating to one, a quantum state having unit norm, and relativistic <spinors> satisfying $\bar u u=2m$. A quoted <normalization> must specify the constraint and the underlying units or state convention.
