A normed algebra is an <algebra over a field> with a <norm> satisfying $\|ab\|\le\|a\|\|b\|$. Its completion is a <Banach algebra>, since multiplication extends continuously. Completeness is additional structure, rather than part of the definition of a normed algebra.
