A one-parameter subgroup of a Lie group $G$ is a smooth homomorphism $\gamma:(\mathbb R,+)\to G$. Every such subgroup has the form $\gamma(t)=\exp(tX)$ for a unique $X$ in the Lie algebra of $G$.
