= Orbital derivative

The orbital derivative of a differentiable function $V$ along the autonomous system $\dot x=f(x)$ is
$$
\dot V(x)=\nabla V(x)\mathbin{\cdot}f(x).
$$
It is the ordinary <derivative> of $V(x(t))$ along each trajectory.
