Oxygen fusion in sufficiently hot evolved stellar cores has several reaction channels, including the displayed silicon-plus-alpha channel and channels producing phosphorus and protons. Its ashes feed <silicon burning>, while <stellar neutrino energy loss> strongly affects the evolution timescale.
