Joined pieces have order-$k$ <parametric continuity> when their positions and one-sided <derivatives> through order $k$ agree in the actual common parameter. Changing parameter-interval lengths changes the required derivative scale by the <chain rule>. For regular <curves>, <parametric continuity> implies the corresponding <geometric continuity>.
