Adding the initiation step to the net forward trapping step cancels the nitrate-radical <reaction intermediate>:

\boxed{\mathrm{2NO_2+O_3\longrightarrow N_2O_5+O_2}.}
$$
The net <stoichiometry> agrees with $-d[\mathrm{NO_2}]/dt\simeq2\,d[\mathrm{N_2O_5}]/dt$ under the <quasi-steady-state approximation>.
