Substitution gives

\varepsilon_X^{\rm LDA}(\mathbf r)
=-0.4582\left(\frac{4\pi}3\right)^{1/3}\rho(\mathbf r)^{1/3}
\simeq-0.7386\,\rho(\mathbf r)^{1/3}.
$$
For $\rho\propto e^{-ar}$, this decays as $-C e^{-ar/3}$, with possible subleading radial prefactors. It therefore vanishes exponentially rather than with the required algebraic $-c/r$ exchange-energy tail.
