In SI units, <Gauss's law> relates the outward <electric flux> through a closed surface to its enclosed charge:
$$
\boxed{\int_S\mathbf E\cdot\mathbf n\,dS=\frac{Q_{\mathrm{enclosed}}}{\varepsilon_0}.}
$$
The outward unit normal specifies the sign of the <electric flux>.
