A family $(X_n)$ of <integrable random variables> is <uniformly integrable> when
$$
\boxed{\lim_{M\to\infty}\sup_n\mathbb E\bigl[|X_n|\mathbf1_{\{|X_n|>M\}}\bigr]=0.}
$$
Equivalently the <integrals> of their tails vanish uniformly. This includes uniform $L^1$ boundedness, since $\mathbb E|X_n|\leq M+\mathbb E[|X_n|\mathbf1_{|X_n|>M}]$.
