Let $S$ be the left shift and define
$$
A_px=\frac1p\sum_{k=1}^pS^kx.
$$
Shift invariance gives $\phi(A_px)=\phi(x)$. The hypothesis says $A_px$ converges uniformly in $n$, hence in the $\ell^\infty$ norm, to the constant sequence $y\mathbf1$. By continuity,
$$
\boxed{\phi(x)=\lim_{p\to\infty}\phi(A_px)
=\phi(y\mathbf1)=y}.
$$
