By <independence>, the <likelihood function> is the product of the individual <probability density functions>:
$$
\boxed{L(\mu,\lambda;x_1,\ldots,x_n)
=\left(\frac\lambda2\right)^n
\exp\!\left[-\lambda\sum_{i=1}^n|x_i-\mu|\right],\quad
\mu\in\mathbb R,\ \lambda>0.}
$$
Writing $A(\mu)=\sum_i|x_i-\mu|$, the <log-likelihood function> is $\ell=n\ln\lambda-n\ln2-\lambda A(\mu)$. Here $\lambda$ is a rate, the reciprocal of the scale in the usual <Laplace distribution> notation.
