= Solution

The <characteristic polynomial> is
$$
\det(\lambda I-A)=(\lambda-1/3)(\lambda+1/3)-3
=\lambda^2-\frac{28}{9}.
$$
Its roots give the two <eigenvalues>
$$
\boxed{\lambda=\pm\frac{2\sqrt7}{3}}.
$$
Their sum is zero, agreeing with the <trace> of the <matrix>.
