Convergence to a point $x\in X$ means
$$
\boxed{\forall\epsilon>0\ \exists N\
\forall n\geq N:\ d(x_n,x)<\epsilon.}
$$
The limit must belong to the <metric space> itself. The definition is equivalent to $d(x_n,x)\to0$ as a real sequence.
