The proportions of <ferrite> and <cementite> within the two-phase <pearlite> microstructure. A <lever rule> on a weight-percent-carbon diagram gives mass fractions; converting those to volume fractions requires the phase densities. Proeutectoid phases outside <pearlite> must be treated separately.
