= Perturbation theory

Perturbation theory develops approximate solutions in a small parameter around a simpler reference problem. A power-series <asymptotic expansion> gives equations for successive correction coefficients; a <matched asymptotic expansion> handles cases where one expansion is not uniformly valid.
