A real symmetric <one-family Dirac-Majorana mass matrix> can have a negative algebraic <eigenvalue>. A rephasing of the corresponding Weyl field puts its physical <rest mass> at the absolute value. Relative Majorana phases can still affect coherent lepton-number-violating amplitudes.
