= Polygon inequality
Positive <real number> lengths $a_1,\ldots,a_k$, with $k\ge3$, are the sides of a nondegenerate <polygon> exactly when $2\max_i a_i<\sum_i a_i$. Necessity follows from the <triangle inequality>: the longest side must be shorter than the path formed by the remaining sides.
