A grid of potential <right censoring> times includes every observed censoring time. Intervals between consecutive grid points have no internal censoring, so their <Kaplan–Meier estimator> factors telescope to a single ratio of event-free survivors to individuals observed across the interval. This gives the same estimator when endpoint <risk sets> are counted consistently.
