Quadratic Dedekind zeta factorization
= Quadratic Dedekind zeta factorization
For a quadratic field $K$ of discriminant $D$,
$$
\zeta_K(s)=\zeta_{\mathbb Q}(s)L(\chi_D,s),
$$
where $\chi_D(p)$ is $1$, $-1$, or $0$ according as $(p)$ splits, remains prime, or ramifies in $\mathcal O_K$. Comparing the three possible local Euler factors proves the formal identity.
