Radiative diffusion
= Radiative diffusion
In an optically thick medium whose radiation field is nearly isotropic and thermal, the first angular correction to the Planck function produces the diffusive flux
$$
F=-\frac{16\sigma T^3}{3\kappa_R\rho}\nabla T,
$$
where $\kappa_R$ is the Rosseland mean opacity.
