For vectors $x,y$ in a Hilbert space, the rank-one operator $(x\otimes y)z=\langle z,y\rangle x$ has $\|x\otimes y\|_1=\|x\|\|y\|$ and $\operatorname{tr}(x\otimes y)=\langle x,y\rangle$.
