A reflection operator is a unitary involution that changes sign on one orthogonal subspace and fixes its orthogonal complement. For a unit vector $|\psi\rangle$, $I-2|\psi\rangle\langle\psi|$ reflects in the hyperplane perpendicular to $|\psi\rangle$.
