The <rho meson> is an isospin-one vector <meson>. Its neutral member has <charge conjugation> value minus one, so all three charge states have <G parity> plus one. The two-pion decay is allowed by G parity, whereas a purely strong isospin-conserving three-pion decay is excluded.
