A reduction of <Lagrangian mechanics> that fixes conserved momenta of <cyclic coordinates> while keeping an Euler-Lagrange description for the remaining coordinates. It is named for <Edward Routh>. The <Routhian> applies a partial <Legendre transform> to the eliminated velocities.
