An orthonormal subsystem basis appearing in a <Schmidt decomposition>. Its vectors diagonalize the corresponding <reduced density matrix>. Degenerate <Schmidt coefficients> permit a freedom to rotate the paired bases together; zero-weight basis vectors complete the subsystem space without contributing to the state.
