The <sea-ice crystal fabric> describes grain shapes and crystallographic orientations. Calm-water <congelation ice> tends to develop vertical columns with predominantly horizontal crystal c-axes, whereas accumulated <frazil ice> produces a granular texture with much less systematic orientation.
