Seismic lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary (source code)

= Seismic lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary

A seismically inferred transition associated with the base of the <lithosphere>, often identified by a decrease in <shear-wave velocity>. Its depth and sharpness constrain combinations of <temperature>, composition, hydration, <melt fraction> and <seismic anisotropy>. A sharp discontinuity inside a <craton> can instead lie within its thick <lithospheric mantle>.<A global view of the lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary by Catherine A. Rychert and Peter M.
