An ideal contact <mechanical constraint> supplying a <normal reaction> and no tangential <friction>. For a stationary constraining <surface>, the permitted <velocity> is a <tangent vector>, so the <normal force> has zero <power> and does no <work>. For a moving <surface>, normality alone does not imply zero <power> in the laboratory frame.
