The evolving cellular intensity pattern on the <Sun>'s <photosphere>, produced by <solar granules>. Its radiative appearance and flow pattern are related but are not identical observables. Near-surface horizontal flow can redistribute weak magnetic field into the surrounding <intergranular lanes>.
