= Roots of the dispersion relation
{synonym}
For fixed complex frequency $\omega$, a spatial root is a complex <wavenumber> $k$ satisfying the <dispersion relation>. Analytic continuation of these branches from a causal temporal contour is essential in the <Briggs-Bers criterion>; their collision alone does not decide whether a <spatial pinch point> occurs.
