A <Specht filtration> is a finite chain of <submodules> whose successive quotients are <Specht modules>. In positive <characteristic> it need not split and is not a <composition series>, because its Specht factors may themselves be reducible. <Dimensions> and ordinary lifted <characters> can still be added along the filtration.
