A <physicist> who studied how to observe <magnetohydrodynamic waves> in the laboratory. His 1949 paper solved the wave equations for a cylindrical experimental geometry and identified a finite useful frequency range: electrical <electrical conductivity>, <magnetic field> strength and apparatus dimensions restrict which waves can propagate in the intended regime.
