The Stokes operator is $A=-P_\sigma\Delta$ on divergence-free vector fields, where $P_\sigma$ is the <Leray-Helmholtz projection>. On a periodic domain it equals $-\Delta$ on its domain, and its inverse gains two <Sobolev space>[Sobolev derivatives].
