A wintertime region of strong circumpolar flow that can isolate polar stratospheric air and sustain cold conditions. Isolation, <cloud> formation, sunlight return and subsequent breakup jointly influence seasonal <ozone> chemistry. Cooling alone does not determine the full <ozone> evolution.
