The <molecule> $\mathrm{SO_2}$ is emitted by volcanism and combustion and can be oxidized into <sulfuric acid>/<sulfate>. Direct gas deposition competes with gas-phase and aqueous <oxidation>. The precursor-gas lifetime and the resulting particle lifetime are different quantities.
