Superior colliculus
= Superior colliculus
A layered <midbrain> structure involved in orienting. Its deeper layers include <neurons> with visual, auditory or somatosensory influences; their spatial and temporal interactions provide an experimental model for multisensory processing. Its role in orienting does not make it a complete explanation of conscious <multisensory perception>.
