= Symmetry operator

An operator implementing a symmetry of quantum states and observables. The ordinary spatial symmetries considered in molecular spectroscopy are unitary and commute with the <Hamiltonian>. More generally, an antiunitary symmetry such as <time reversal> needs its corresponding treatment.
