The <tensor product> of <Lie algebra representations> has action $x(v\otimes w)=xv\otimes w+v\otimes xw$. The <Lie algebra representation> identity follows because operators on the two different tensor factors commute. This action descends to <exterior powers> and <symmetric powers>.
