<thermal insulation> reduces unwanted heat exchange. Conduction through supports, <convection> in gas and <thermal radiation> require different treatments. <vacuum> suppresses gas transport but leaves solid conduction and radiation; lowering <thermal conductance> also increases the <temperature> rise caused by a fixed internal heat load.
