Sequential ring opening, five-membered cyclic imidodithiocarbonate formation, cleavage and reclosure can exchange the <thiirane> <sulfur> with the <thiocyanate> <sulfur>. Backside substitution at both ring <carbons> reverses the <thiirane> face while leaving remote stereocentres intact.
